THE CANADIAN CLUB OF THE YAMASKA VALLEY HOLDS ITS CHRISTMAS RECEPTION
The Canadian Club of the Yamaska Valley held its annual Christmas celebration at the Auberge West Brome on Monday, December 3rd . Unfortunately, this coincided with the first major snowstorm of the season which prevented some from attending.
Pres. Rod Riordon welcomed all who had braved the storm and introduced choir-master Susan Reininger and thanked both her and Evie Johnston-Main who, together, had planned the program. The talented group of singers were: Alison Popiel, Doreen Reglan, Evie Johnston-Main, Kathy Lepoer, Louise Lessard, Millie Martin, Sue Liebricht and Vesta Jorgenson. Together, they royally entertained with song, timely jokes and readings and led us in a sing along of our favourite Christmas carols. Solos rendered by Evie and Doreen contributed further to the enjoyment. They also organized a game that resulted in much laughter and many of us going home with gifts of candy and homemade cookies in brightly decorated boxes, the winners being the people left holding a box when the game ended; such a nice treat.
The entertainment was followed by refreshments: tea, coffee and squares baked by the executive. These were served by Evelyn Lewis, Gladys Dustin, Janet Snider and Janet B. King.
Finally, on behalf of our Club, I take this opportunity to express our appreciation to all our volunteers and to wish members a Happy New Year. . I hope you winter well and that we will see you in March when we resume our monthly meetings.
