Dr. James Manson: Historian, Author and Educator
Topic: "The Windham County Loyalists and the Settlement of New England's Northern Frontier"
Dr. James Manson who now lives in Cowansville, is a native of our area being a descendant of the Mansons who founded Mansonville. Currently, Dr. Manson teaches at the Montreal campus of the Champlain College of Vermont and is just finishing a lecture series at the Brome County Historical Society, something he has now done for the past seven years.
He holds a BA in history from Concordia and a Diploma in Education from McGill. Following a teaching stint in Jamaica, he obtained an MA in history and later a PhD. He has taught at both Concordia and McGill as well as in the Canadian north and in the Eastern Townships public school system. Much of his work is based on original research of both primary and secondary sources. The current topic is based on the topic of his PhD dissertation.
