"The Vikings"

    Haagen Kierulf, born in Oslo, Norway in 1943,  was an exchange student in Boulder, Colorado in 1956-57.  In 1961-62 he served his obligatory military service as a telex operator in the Norwegian Air Force.  He then worked in France and Germany to learn languages and is now fluent in four languages, English, French, German and Norwegian, and has a basic knowledge of Mandarin Chinese.

    In 1967 he was hired by Bremshey AG, Solingen, Germany and was sent to its Montreal subsidiary where he assisted in the planning and establishment of a new manufacturing plant.  In 1973-75 he was moved to Taiwan as general manager.  In 1976 he was hired as general manager for the A. Fulton Company Limited in London, England and then returned to Montreal to work for A. E. LePage, subsequently Royal LePage, as manager of the LaSalle and the Westmount offices.  He is currently assistant manager with Royal LePage HERITAGE, Westmount.

    Haagen Kierulf purchased a property in Sutton in 1991and is now a permanent resident of the Eastern Townships.  He is a three times president of the St. James Literary Society Inc. and is the Honorary Archivist and an Honorary Life Member.  He is a Past President of The Rotary Club of Westmount and is now Club Historian and Club Photographer.  His hobbies are sailing, canoeing, hiking, photography, cross-country skiing and bicycling.  He is married with three children.

    He has read and studied extensively about the Vikings as well as visiting many Viking museums and sites, including trips to l’Anse aux Meadows, Newfoundland.
