Spring Tour - June 18-19 2008
Travel to Cornwall for lunch and then on to Morrisburg where we will stay at the McIntosh Inn. Following dinner at the Inn, we will attend the play, “Wally’s Cafe,” a comedy, at the Upper Canada Village Theatre. In the morning, after breakfast at the Inn, we will travel to Upper Canada Village where we will spend the day, leaving at 4:00 PM for the trip home.
On the 18th we visited museums in the Cornwall area that showed local history, with particular attention to the construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway and its opening just 50 years ago in 1958. That evening, we returned to the McIntosh Inn with smiles on our faces after seeing the well present play, “Wally’s Café,” which was full of laughs.
On the 19th we stopped at the Upper Canada Village, a re-creation of a 19th century village complete with a woolen mill, a church, many small businesses and old homes, all manned by people in period dress and knowledgeable about the era. Unfortunately, the 19th was a rainy day and, after touring the village in the wet, decided to cut short our stay and return home earlier than planned.
